Purple! The Top Trend for High Point Market Spring 2018
We are back from this year’s spring High Point market! We’re so excited to start incorporating all the new trends and styles we saw into our clients designs, but for now let’s talk about the trend we loved that was spotted everywhere. All across the show rooms there were designs integrating the use of purples. That’s not too much of a surprise actually, as this year’s Pantone color of the year is Ultra Violet. Ultra violet purple (which is more of a vibrant purple) is blue based and was primarily seen in accessories and decorations of the rooms such as beautiful chunks of amethyst placed on a console table, or bright flowers in an otherwise neutral tone room.
On the other spectrum we saw soft purples used in nearly every aspect of the design. Bedding, sofas, art work, accent walls, you name it – the soft purple tones were loved everywhere. What makes these purples soft is that there is a slight gray or creaminess to them that make them much more subdued or relaxing than the typical bright purple we are so used to. Because of this, this color lends itself to multiple color pallet options.
Pair it with neutral earth tones and some green foliage and you have the calm soothing feeling of a spa atmosphere. Or incorporate other soft/dusty shades like mauve or pale blue with it and add some gold and the room feels a bit more classy and elegant. After all, purple has long been referred to as the color of royalty.
With purple having the combination of blue’s calmness and red’s warm stimulation it’s a versatile, comfortable and welcoming color. Often overlooked as an adolescent’s color, purple can add luxurious, serene feeling to a room in such a unique way. And the best part is, this trend is just taking off and hasn’t been used all over the place yet, making these purple based designs stand out from the rest.
What do you think? Has purple always been a favorite color of your that you just weren’t sure how to incorporate into interior design rather than just fashion? We can help with that! Contact us!
