Interior Designer Position at Lisa Scheff Designs | Longmeadow, MA
As a growing small business with increased client demand, Lisa Scheff Designs is seeking to add a talented, motivated, and experienced Interior Designer to the team. Applicants should be creative and self-motivated individuals who work well in a collaborative environment. We are looking for someone who is organized, motivated, and a great communicator.
Lisa Scheff Designs is a full-service interior design firm based out of Longmeadow, MA, serving Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
Responsibilities include:
- Drafting space and lighting plans, tile elevations, electrical plans, and all construction documentation needed for residential interior design projects.
- Developing design concepts, building design renderings, creating tear sheets, and making product selections under the guidance of the Director of Design.
- Taking field measurements.
- Attending client meetings as applicable.
- Maintaining knowledge of design trends, materials/finishes, and general building code.
- Creating spec books with construction documents, finishes, and material specifications for the project manager and contractors.
- Balancing multiple projects at once with consistent attention to detail and a focus on client relations.
The Associate Interior Designer will report to the firm’s Principal and Director of Design. A wide degree of creativity and professional communication will be expected in this role. Qualified candidates must be familiar with design and construction concepts, practices, and procedures. The role relies on extensive experience and good judgment to accomplish goals.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an Interior Designer or equivalent position. Additional retail or customer service experience is a plus.
- Ability to self-motivate and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while prioritizing multiple projects at once.
- Knowledge of interior design and construction processes.
- Ability to work individually and collaborate as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills with an emphasis on customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Visio. Proficiency in Adobe, drafting software such as Chief Architect, 2020, QuickBooks, and Design Smart are a plus.
Details, Salary, and Benefits:
- Full-time position.
- Starting hourly range: $28-30, commensurate with experience. Future commission options are available with proven results.
- Hybrid work environment: working remotely, being in the office, and time spent on job sites will fluctuate based on project needs.
- Regular business hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- SIMPLE IRA with company match available in the third year of employment.
