90s Drab to Modern and Sleek First Floor Home Renovation
From dated and drab to modern and fab
It’s hard to imagine that a home that was once a drab and outdated space can be transformed into a modern and sleek masterpiece; however, with the right team, anything is possible.
This incredible home renovation is an extraordinary example of the magic of interior design. It takes a drab and outdated space from the 90s and turns it into a modern and sleek masterpiece that will leave you in awe. The stunning before and after pictures will astound you, making it hard to fathom that it's the same space!
The entire first floor was meticulously updated, from wallpaper removal to new floor installation, kitchen remodel, fireplace transformation, new windows, and a renovated bathroom. No detail was overlooked in ensuring that every aspect of the renovation was executed flawlessly.
The Kitchen
To walk you through this transformation, let's start in the kitchen of this first floor renovation.
The initial challenge that our team faced was an outdated layout. The flow of the space was disconnected. When you entered the home, you walked into a long and narrow living room closed off from the kitchen and family room. The wall between the two closed off light from the kitchen and made the kitchen and living room both feel small and cramped. Different flooring int he various rooms added the disjointed feeling.
One of the key transformations was the removal of the wall between the kitchen and dining room. This brilliant move resulted in a modern open-concept living space that perfectly suits the needs and style of the young couple.
In the process of construction, we took down walls, relocated appliances, and replaced the traditional kitchen table with an expansive island. The team removed the old floors and replaced them with new wide luxury vinyl plank floors that brightened up the whole home. The newly created open-concept space allowed natural light to enter the space and created a seamless flow from one room to another.
The kitchen was completely transformed, from its outdated cabinets to new modern slab front white cabinetry. The new cabinets were sleek with modern handles and designed with storage in mind, creating more space for cooking and entertaining. The countertops were replaced with quartz, which is durable, easy to maintain, and adds value to the home. An oversized island was installed with a waterfall edge creating a new social hub for the couple. The wallpaper accent under the island creates a unique accent.
The Front Entry
The front entry also received a facelift as the old oak stairwell was refinished and the spindles replaced. New doors and a fresh coat of paint make the entry feel modern and welcoming.
The Fireplace
While we love a brick fireplace, the look didn't fit with the sleek modern space we were creating. We refaced the fireplace with huge gorgeous ripples tiles and a black stone hearth. The look compliments the modern light fixture and creates a cozy place for the couple to enjoy after a long day.
The windows and back door were replaced by large sliding doors that let in tons of natural light, that is filtered by a modern screen shade when its too strong during the day or they need privacy at night.
The Primary Bathroom
As dramatic as the kitchen before and after, the primary suite received and amazing transformation. The bathroom was a total disaster with poor lighting, outdated tiles, and a small shower that was too cramped. Dated wallpaper and old cabinetry were replaced with sleek, modern elements. The space was reworked so that it flowed more efficiently and fit a larger shower as well as more storage than before.
The team installed new lighting that made the bathroom brighter and more inviting. New tiles were installed that complemented the modern design of the home, while dual rainfall showerheads, built-in niche, and glass walls were added to create a spa-like oasis.
This home renovation is a testament to the power of design and construction. By taking down walls, reconfiguring the layout, and using a mix of materials, our team was able to transform a 90s drab home into a modern and sleek masterpiece. With the right renovation team, anything is possible. So, if you’re a homeowner looking to update your home, don’t be afraid to think outside the box and create a space that is both functional and beautiful. With the right team, you can achieve a space that you’ll love for years to come.
